Mains-linked security for mains-powered equipment

Welcome to Osney Consulting. We are currently developing Mains Monitor, a new security device for protecting mains-powered equipment from theft. Our technology is protected by British patent no. 2424107. Other British and international patent applications are pending.

You can't steal anything mains-powered without unplugging it. Mains Monitor is a modified plug which responds with signals sent through the mains cable in response to periodic requests from a controller. Take the plug out - no response to the request, so the alarm sounds. The plug also detects the current flowing to the appliance, so if you cut the cable, you get the same result.

We expect the primary market for this product to be organisations which have high-value mains-powered equipment, but also need to be open to the public to some extent, otherwise they can't function. This includes universities, hotels, libraries and hospitals. For example, radiological monitors typically cost around £4,000 each. Their theft is a constant problem in UK hospitals.

We currently have fully working prototypes available for demonstration and are looking to license our technology to interested parties.
